Toby - The Cat With Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Finally Found A Truly Home

Georgina Price and her fiance Christopher Lardner spent a bad time when their first rescue cat passed away just few months later. However, after the pains and sorrows, they decided to give their love for someone new.

It’s such a coincidence when surfing the internet, Georgina was impressed by Toby and Quinton, which were on the RSPCA website, and the important thing was that they needed a home.

With no hesitation, Georgina and her fiance made a decision to bring both back to the house.

Quinton is a 7-year-old black and white cat, was missing all of his teeth and Toby, a 6-year-old short-haired feline, had a lot of loose skin.

Regards to Toby, he has been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) or feline cutaneous asthenia (FCA), a congenital condition that can cause unusually stretchy, loose, and fragile skin due to a lack of collagen.

The first meeting wasn’t easy at all when both cats were quite terrified and huddled right at the back, especially Toby. He just hid behind Quinton the whole time.

Luckily, every awful time went by, with the commitment of this family, Quinton and Toby were picked up to the truly home, where they could do anything they wanted.

Toby and Quinton took a little while to find peace in their new home. As Georgina said “They were just so scared and were living under the bed for weeks but food and love eventually got them out”. However, right now, the thing is better than ever.

Toby’s delicate skin condition, however, makes him prone to injury even when he’s simply grooming himself or playing with Quinton.

One more thing, because of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Toby’s stomach hangs down to his knees, and Georgina and Christopher are concerned about the effect the added weight of this extra skin might have on his long-term health.

The only thing they can do is try to make sure he doesn’t get hurt and clean his wound.

Like any other cats, they both also love playing with bouncy balls, bird watching, snuggling with his owners, and belly rubs. Therefore, no matter how a cat looks like, let’s love her/him by your honest emotion. And he/she will love you back by his/her whole life.
