We’re all acknowledged that the temperature in Siberian, Russia is very harsh not only to humans but also to the animals. It usually drops to severe lows once the winter arrives. Though people are used to the extreme coldness and have prepared for it through the year, not all animals are as resilient. Heartbreakingly, pets with frostbitten paws are not a rare situation in Siberia and unfortunately, most often, that is a death sentence for the poor pooches. However, this cat is lucky enough to have an owner who is willing to fight with him till the end of the road.

Ryzhik is a Ginger Cat (or Redhead in Russian) lost all of his 4 paws in January as temperatures dropped in Tomsk. Its limbs were so severely frostbitten, with gangrene setting in quickly that the vet had no other options but to amputate them.

Ryzhik’s owner didn’t give up and decided to make Ryzhik’s life as comfortable and long as possible. He took Ryzhik to a clinic in Novosibirsk that specializes in implanting artificial limbs.
